I love supporting artists—of all types and genres, even those not thought of as my norms—and will be hopping on here to feature some of them sometimes.
This song today, which just released as part of an EP, reminds me a little of what I wrote for my great-great-grandfather and his story of coming over from Ireland and trying to make it—and to my understanding, failing as far as he could see—as a farmer in the US before his son moved up to Saskatchewan. You can read that story and listen to that song here.
But I’d like to introduce you to Daniel Roy and his song, commissioned by a family member and about his grandfather, called “The Lord of East Garafraxa” in his life in prairie Canada. It features a psalm at the beginning which I believe played a key role in his life, as is the story for many of our forebears who couldn’t have imagined suffering through wat they did without the hope and light of faith pulling them onward.
Lyrics are in the video. Enjoy! And support the artists stepping out and making moves. It matters so much. This is how we change the water we are swimming - creating and helping others continue to create and breathe life into the world.
Also: big announcement coming here on Wednesday! Lots to look forward to and be hopeful for!
